As we all know , everything has gotten more expensive. And taking a vacation is a luxury that a lot of people can’t afford. But a staycation we can all do! Here is some tips to make it fun and make precious memories.
First no matter whether you live in a big city or small town there’s lots of fun things to do in your own backyard. Museums are cheap and educational for the kids, some bigger cities have amusement parks and zoos. A lot of towns even small towns have a bowling alley to bowl and eat fun food. If you live in the country or know someone who does , riding horses and exploring new places is always fun. Going for a walk in a new area of town shows you new places that you can enjoy and explore. Taking pictures of beautiful places around your city or town of flowers, sunsets and sunrises. Or of the night sky the moon and the stars. Go on a bug and animal hunt to see all the creatures there is. But warning do not touch a fuzzy caterpillar. They sting very painfully. Probably not a good idea to touch any bug for that reason. Pick different color of leaves in the fall. And press them or flowers to make a beautiful picture. Play in a park and take a picnic and of course a lot of water so everyone stays hydrated. Google fun things to do and put your towns name to find more attractions.
Another cheaper vacation that my family growing up did and I did with my kids is go see family. You can stay with them and all of you eat together. Plus it’s wonderful to get to know family better.
Another thing you can do is try new recipes for lunch or supper. Or make a new dessert that the family can enjoy. If you like certain dishes from your favorite restaurant, a website I found in a book I was reading one time on how to save money is called CopyKat.com. It’s copycat recipes from different restaurants that you can make at home. So that’s a fun website to try new recipes. Also I find easy and fun recipes to try on Facebook or sometimes just google a recipe I want to learn how to make. If you are not much on cooking and want to learn, buy some measuring cups and spoons that say the amount on them then just read and follow the recipe. Or take a cooking class to learn.
So these are just some ideas on how to have a fun staycation and not spend near the money you would going on an expensive vacation. So ask your family and friends for ideas too on fun things they like to do in their town or city.
Happy staycation!
