Today in faith and wellness, I want to talk about the importance of taking good care of our health mental health and physical health. I know people sometimes worry about the cost of doctor or hospital visits, but you cannot put a price tag on your health. It is important to take good care of ourselves for our family and friends who love us so much and want us here on earth as long as possible. Do routine medical tests even if you don’t feel like there is a problem. Do blood work as often as your doctor ask you to. There are so many medical tests that can be run to catch things before they get worse.
I will give you an example in my own life. My Mother had heart disease and ended up with triple bypass surgery before passing away many years later. Because of that I had stress tests and echocardiograms every 3 years as my cardiologist recommended. I moved to Arizona and a year ago I went to the emergency room for something else. They always do a EKG . But this time they found something wrong and the PA I saw that night said to make an appointment with the cardiologist as soon as possible so I did. My heart wasn’t beating right. So he had to shock my heart like they do when someone is dying. I was asleep and it only took a few minutes but my heart started beating normal again. Then it turned out I have a flutter. That means one valve in heart was fluttering and it was not supposed to be. It was supposed to be 70 and mine was over 200. So July 9, 2026 I had a heart ablation. They went into that valve and burned the electrical part. So now there is a 95% chance it will never flutter again. And a 50% chance of a fibrillation a different heart condition. But I know one person who has lived 20 years with that and has a pacemaker. I still have a couple months to heal completely but I haven’t been in any pain which I am very thankful for.
So this is just one example for why these medical tests and seeing doctors on a regular basis is so important. And for your children also. Even kids can have hidden health issues.
I have a strong believe in prayer which is something I do every day. I often get what I have prayed for but sometimes I don’t because there is something better God has in store for me.
So do both if you believe in prayer. Just remember the medical tests and doctors visits are not only for you but for the many people in your life that love and care about you so much. I have beautiful kids and grandkids to live for so every medical test and doctor visit is very important. And for hospital visits if you cannot afford the hospital bill, talk to the hospital social worker who can give you resources of places that can help with the cost and make it more manageable.
So find a primary doctor today and see them as often as they ask you to for your health. Your family and friends will be so happy you did!
