What I’m doing for Christmas 2024

By Darla Youngblood

I apologize! Time snuck up on me! Okay My Daughter and Son in law make Christmas so easy for me! I have 5 grandchildren! My oldest grandson ask his girlfriend to marry him! So I’m gaining another granddaughter ! So my oldest grandson two teenage granddaughters my daughter and son-in-law law I give money they can choose what they want for their Christmas present. For my 5 year old granddaughter and 3 year old grandson , my daughter creates a list on Amazon of toys and clothes for each of them! Then I look at the list and always buy a toy and some clothes! But I’m surpsing my 5 year old granddaughter with my favorite book as a child you can find on Amazon called Miss Suzy! It’s about a squirrel and she gets rescued by some soilders! It’s been a while! It’s 50 years old now but you can find a copy on Amazon! And a picture book my children’s favorite book for my 3 year old grandson called the very hungry caterpillar! Both are such cute books for little ones! So I have a wonderful free thing I get in the mail called Current. They have cards and calendar smalll gifts it’s a wonderful company! You can order online or I love getting it in the mail!
So I ordered some treat bags! Then I’ve seen on Facebook all kinds of yummy treats you can make like peanut butter balls or an easy fudge microwave chocolate chips with a can of Eagle brand milk and then add a teaspoon of vanilla! Pour into a parchment paper pan and put in the refrigerator! Yummy fudge! So two things I’m putting into the treat bags one for my daughter one for my son in law and one for each of my 4 out of 5 grandchildren who live here in Arizona about 20 minutes from me! Also have two neighbors as friends that get treat bags! Something simple for Christmas 🎄 making food to give as a Christmas gift is so easy and people love it I promise! When I was married to my ex husband we were just teenagers ! But I made grape jelly each year or apple jelly from grape juice or apple juice . You buy a yellow box on the baking isle at Walmart of pectrin.

I’m so sorry I can’t remember the name of it but any Walmart employee canhelp you find it. Inside it is the directions on how to make your own jelly! People loved me giving that as gifts and my ex husband loved the jelly too especially the grape jelly! I was 17and my ex husband 18 when we got married!we had my daughter now 41 and my son now 40!They are making me feel old❤️I’ll be 60 this month! So I told my daughter I want a steak for my birthday so we are going to Texas Roadhouse by far the best place to get a steak! And their rolls just melt in your mouth! I also give money to my son and daughter in-law who have my granddogs! 3 of them! 😊 I spend Christmas Day with my daughter son in law and the 4 grandkids here! My oldest grandson lives in Michigan. So that’s my Christmas this year! I hope this gives you some ideas on Christmas gifts! I’ve already got my Christmas cards to send out and last year I started a new tradition sending a recipe in my Christmas cards and got some back with recipes which was super fun! I saw that years ago on Facebook and thought that was an awesome idea! I had an Aunt on my Dads side of the family that we always sent Christmas cards each year and sadly she passed away from brain cancer. I’ll miss hearing from her! I had a cousin on my Dad’s side of the family find me on Facebook! We hadn’t talked since we were little girls! Remember my Dad died when I was 11. My mom remarried when I was 14 and sadly have lost both of them. My mom’s family is huge! I had 27 first cousins! That’s just the cousins not counting their spouses children grandchildren and some are now great grandparents! We have a family reunion once a year! So make a basket of food for your friends or family! I promise you they will love it!
