Staying well during the holidays

By Darla Youngblood

  • Practice healthy habits, eat well, get enough sleep and stay active
  • Stay hydrated. Drink water to stay energized and to fight off illness
  • Manage stress. Avoid over scheduling yourself and make time for yourself. Practice mindfulness.

  • Be grateful. Appreciate the people you have to share the holidays with
  • Set realistic goals. Focus on meaningful experiences rather than gifts
  • Stick to a budget. Financial stress can cause anxiety.
  • Honor losses. If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, make space for those feelings.

  • Give yourself grace. Give yourself permission to say No to events.
  • Identify a safe space or holiday buddy if you’re feeling overwhelmed.
