Make your own soup

By Darla Youngblood

I make my own soup sometimes. I take a box of chicken broth the size in the picture. Low sodium is good to cut some of the salt out. I boil a chicken breast or two. I shred chicken and other meat I want to shred by using my hand blender and using the regular blender attachment blend the chicken which automatically shreds it. I put the chicken in the chicken broth . I add a can of mixed vegetables or any kind of vegetables you want to add. If adding fresh or frozen vegetables be sure to bring soup to a boil and boil them until they are tender. I sometimes also add elbow macaroni or some other kind of pasta. I add onion powder and garlic powder and pepper. I don’t add any extra salt as the chicken broth is already salty. Add some water if you want more juice. You can vary this by adding turkey or cooked hamburger meat instead of the boiled chicken. For a little more flavor you could also use smoked sausage and other seasonings. Be sure to bring soup to a boil and simmer long enough to make vegetables and pasta tender. Any variation of this will make a delicious soup!
