Cutting cost

Groceries today are so much more expensive than in the past. My Dad passed away in 1975 and we would buy 3 heaping baskets full of groceries once a month for me, my 3 older brothers and my parents and my Dad liked to keep it at about 100 dollars! 100 dollars wouldn’t buy even one basketful now!

A great way to cut the costs of groceries is to look in your pantry refrigerator and freezer when you start to make your grocery list and see what meals you can make from what you have. Maybe you just need one or two items to go with that hamburger meat or chicken breasts to make a meal .

If your still wondering what to make with the ingredients you have a great website for this is called Supercook.com. Put your ingredients in and it will bring up a recipe with those ingredients! Not only did you save money using what you have but trying a new recipe your sure to love!

Some people also cut coupons and use them. I don’t use coupons but if you do that’s great!

Another way I save money on groceries is making most of my meals from scratch. I learned this way of cooking from my Grandmother and my mom and Dad. I make homemade biscuits from scratch and even grape or apple jelly made with juice sugar and sure jel. Recipe is in the box of sure jel.

So if you are fortunate to have parents or grandparents alive ask for those made from scratch recipes! They are so good and save money!
