Stroganoff

First I want to tell you about something I discovered at Walmart. That is where I shop all the time for food. So one day I wanted to see if I could find some frozen meat which tends to be a little cheaper than fresh meat. So I looked at the ground turkey and a one pound roll is 1.98 a pound as of August 2026. So that is a savings of roughly 2.50 a pound from fresh ground turkey roll. So now I have switched from buying fresh hamburger meat to this frozen ground turkey. So not only is it cheaper, its much better for you. I always season mine with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder the last two a generous amount. I really like this combination of seasonings since ground turkey is blander than hamburger meat. But you can substitute ground turkey in any recipe that calls for ground hamburger meat. I even make turkey burgers instead of hamburgers. Since I now usually only buy this, boneless chicken and frozen fish, I have lost weight without even trying and keeping my sodium to 2000 milligrams or less a day due to congestive heart failure. So try the ground turkey and season it however you want to. It does take some time to get use to the switch but I really can’t tell much difference in the ground turkey verses ground hamburger meat. I do also eat red meat occasionally so I am not against eating red meat.

Stroganoff

one pound scrambled and cooked of ground turkey

add whatever seasonings you like while the turkey is cooking

Medium egg noodles. I buy the great value brand because they are cheaper. Cook half of a 16 oz bag. You can also use wide egg noodles if you prefer. I just like the medium ones. Cook according to directions on the package.

One can of cream of chicken soup

One can of cream of mushroom soup or 2 cans and omit the cream of chicken soup if you like. I just love the flavor of cream of chicken soup and cream of mushroom soup combined.

One small tub of sour cream added after everything else is cooked at the end.

This makes a lot but if you have a big family you may want to double the recipe or add a vegetable on the side.

Happy eating!
