Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads, Stepdads and Grandfathers! Today I remember my Dad. He died exactly one month to the day after my 11th birthday. But he taught me so much about life in those short 11 years. When I was 8 years old I got mad at my family and said I was moving out! My Dad was such a teacher of life! He said when you live on your own you will have to pay rent! And he explained to me what rent was. Then he told me I would have to get a job. So he sent me to a local little variety store that the shelves were all dusty and had me ask the man who owned it if I could dust his shelves for 50 cents a hour. Of course the man said No . I went back to my Dad crying and he said well why don’t you let me take care of you until you turn 18 so I said okay! I started going fishing with my dad just me and him when I was 3 years old! I had a lot of fun fishing with him and love those memories. Before he died he sent me and my Mom on a trip by ourselves. He showed both of us how to check the oil, how much air to put in the tires and how to check that. He also showed both of us how to change a tire too. All those things he taught me even looking for a job I never forgot and his strong faith. Don’t ever forget how important Dads are to kids and all they can teach them. I’ll never forget my dad On this Father’s Day do something special for your Dad or the father of your children. Dads are special today and every day!
